My Learnings from slokas Organization
I really love the way slokas organisation has been put up. There are many slokas and sthotras i love to recite.
Sholkas (Education)
4 verses with 8 syllables each or 2 verses with 16 syllables each. Totally 32 syllables. It is interesting that each stanza will have only 32 syllables in a rhyming way for us to remember.
Stotras (Rehabilitator)
There is no structure in it. It is the eulogy or ode or praise of god and deities. They are nothing but the thoothis.
Mantra (Rehabilitator)
Start with single syllable OM. They are the vibrations that have the power to heal our mind, body and soul.
Suktam (Medicine)
Vedic hymn in the praise of the deity. It attributes the paraphernalia. It actually pulls out the essence from stotras and minifies the essentials. Purusha Suktam - seen in all vedas, it is the essence of all sruthis. veda vyas states purusha suktam as essence of all sruthis.
Sutras (Eternal Science)
Sutras are hints. At some point in time, we cannot expound everything, it is inexplainable as we also only get hints from the universe. Bhrama Sutras and Yoga Sutras are universe formation and universe unification sutras.
Upanishads (Sayings and Stories)
The vedic saying in story.
Bhagavat Gita (The song that Glorifies)
Upanishad and a song.
Prakarana Ghrandas (Explanation for Rescue)
From adi sankaracharya - desperate analysis of vedas and vedhankas to communicate the meanings to people.
The above classification is wonderful and the information is very good to understand. I think we can add an hierarchy to it.
1. Mantras - easy to say by any kids.
2. Stotras - easy to understand.
3. Slokas - easy to remember.
4. Suktam - Professional, combination of sruthis.
5. Sutras - Philosophical
6. Gita - conversation entertainment
7. Ghrandas - rigorous analysis.
while first 3 are very essential for everyone, suktam, sutras, gita and ghrandas are for adults as they are advanced topic.
Based on easiness, first 3 can be applied for kids and others as well. Learning suktam, sutras and ghrandas can be a complex process, level 1 can help level 2.
